Burma (also known as the Union of Myanmar) is a country we hear little about. Under military rule since 1962, the country is dominated by an oppressive regime resulting in a State of fear. Democratic elections have been planned for 2010, but they are a farce, or – as described by the US government – a mockery. The leader of [...]

While in India, I had the opportunity to talk to a few young people living in poverty who have New Zealand sponsors. I asked one young guy (11 years old) what he would wish for if he could have one wish and know without a doubt that it would come true. The circumstances that young man lives in could only [...]
The following is a slideshow of images I captured during my time in India. It’s by no means all of them, but represents a good portion of the pictures I captured of children. The directors of War Dance, Sean Fines and Andrea Nix Fine, traveled to the area with the intention of making a film about the problems of Northern Uganda and [...]
Vibrant costumes, infectious smiles and stories that will move and inspire you – the Watoto Children’s Choir from Uganda will visit Auckland and it is an event not to miss. The 18 boys and girls in the choir, all aged between seven and 13, are orphans and are being raised through the Watoto project in Uganda. However, this is not [...]
Often in war times, woman, children and the elderly are abused and mistreated. Seen as the weakest in society, they make easy targets and the crimes committed against them amount to crimes against humanity. Sexual violence against females, both young and old, is a dark and often unspoken method used in many current war situations. Darfur has helped to highlight [...]
