This video is a compilation of footage captured by human rights monitors on January 24, 2009 during the violent eviction at Dey Krahorm (Cambodia). Video footage courtesy of Platapus, LICADHO, LICADHO Canada, Bridges Across Borders, and Karl Bille.
This coming week we will be outlining more details and giving you personal stories of what took place and the current situation of those forced from their homes. We will be looking for ways that we can advocate on behalf of the victims of this situation. We will be raising our voice and as we do, we ask you to raise yours as well. There is no question about this event, it is an injustice.

I was in Phnom Penh on Saturday 17 January one week before these events. In the Cambodia Daily that morning there was a photo of a municipal official, visiting the community, inviting residents to submit claims for compensation for their homes, and promising that “no action” would be taken while these claims were considered. This video seems a funny idea of “no action”.
Thanks for this footage!
I was in Dey Krahorm a year ago when LICADHO and others were fighting to let residents stay. I wrote an article about it but no one seemed interested. So sad…
Hi Helen,
Hopefully we can build some interest here. We will have informationn and personal stories here over the coming days. Please let others know. The more “heat” we can generate, the better
Is there any chance you could send your article to me. I would be interested in reading it frank@tearfund.org.nz
Hi Frank,
thanks for your reply. Actually after I saw this footage I posted my article on a blog I created on Open Salon:

I am truly sad about Dey Krahorm. I met some wonderful people there and hope they are getting on alright…
