The iMiEV – I Want One (video)

Using the statement “I want one” during Lent probably seems a bit off… but a man has to be honest.

Allow me to be blunt, I am sick and tired of petrol and everything about it. I am sick and tired of the fact that I am reliant on it. It stinks and I want another option. I don’t want to have to visit petrol stations and I don’t want to keep analysing the price of a barrel of oil, the value of our dollar and all the other little factors necessary to scrutinize the price of the refined product at the pump. I don’t want to keep feeding our addiction to crude oil, nor do I want to keep lining the pockets of large oil companies with the few dollars I have. I want us to move forward. I want something that is cleaner and I don’t want to settle for a hybrid.

Most of all, I want something that respects the environment around me a lot more. For this reason, I am excited about the partnership between Meridian Energy and Mitsubishi Motors that seeks to bring the electric vehicle to the New Zealand market in the form of the iMiEV.

The iMiEV, aside from needing a little more boot space, is exactly what I am after and it is with anticipation that I look forward to the day when it sits in my price range so I can say goodbye to the daily use of petrol.

Of course, as with any new technology it has its limits, but the more the likes of the iMiEV become the norm for transportation, the quicker that technology will improve. For that reason, I wholeheartedly support and endorse the initiative of Meridian and Mitsubishi and give the iMiEV a big thumbs up without even having driven one yet. May it continue forward in leaps and bounds.

Update: It looks like even Batman is getting into the swing of things…. ok, maybe it’s not an iMiEV… but it should be…
