This isn’t something I will normally write about, but since it was my first experience of a lunch outing with a TEAR Fund team, I thought it was worth giving you an inside peak.

When chatting with Steve (the Executive Director) prior to me taking up the role as TEAR Fund’s Education and Advocacy Manager he had sometimes mentioned an Indian place where he likes to eat. Being a fan of Indian food, I was looking forward to giving it a go sometime. Today we did just that.

Sitting in the place made me feel very western. I like Indian food, but it was all unrecognizable to me, so today I discovered that Indian food really is a lot more diverse than I had thought. Because of my ignorance I trusted Steve to order something for me… and for the life of me, I can’t remember what it was called now, but it was very nice. It was some sort of rather large wrap with a potato mixture in the middle, accompanied by a couple of rather tasty condiments for dipping… and a tasty mango drink. I also purchased some Indian sweets to take home for my wife and daughter.

Here’s a picture I took on my phone. Sorry about the quality, I should have turned the flash on.

The guy in the black t-shirt is Steve, my boss. The guy next to him is David, the President of World Concern, who has been in the country over the weekend. TEAR Fund has worked with World Concern a little and the two organisations have much in common.
